Revit MEP Space Naming Utility is Now Available on Subscription

The Space Naming Utility for Revit® MEP 2009 software is an intuitive tool that automatically assigns the names and numbers from architectural rooms to Revit MEP spaces. By downloading the Space Naming Utility for Revit MEP 2009 software, you can eliminate the need to manually assign names to the spaces, helping save time and simplifying your workflow.
Once the tool is installed, you can access it from the TOOLS pulldown menu. That opens up the dialog box that gives you options on how you would like to rename the MEP spaces.

TurboSquid is Selling Revit Content

TurboSquid is the only Autodesk® partner for a Revit® content marketplace. All Revit families in their Building Components section will be guaranteed to have correct parameterization.

Revit Market is designed specifically for Revit users to buy and sell Revit families, scenes, and visualization content.

TurboSquid Revit Content

Got Families?

You worked hard on your custom Revit families, but now that the job's over, they're just taking up space on your hard drive. Put those Revit families to work for you, generating cash or credits that you can use to purchase other quality Revit families.

Royalty Options

All sales of your Revit families will get you a 50% royalty. You can opt to receive royalties as cash at the end of each month, or roll over your royalties to a credit account.

Revit Market at TurboSquid is a community marketplace that accepts only correctly parameterized Revit families for its catalog. All the products in our catalog are published by users like you, professionals creating quality Revit families for their own projects.

Autodesk Ecotect Analysis Program

Autodesk Ecotect can measure how fundamental criteria, such as solar, thermal, shading, lighting, and airflow, will affect building performance in the conceptual and detailed phases of design. This capability to forecast building performance over time better equips architects and engineers to deliver more energy efficient and sustainable building designs.

Autodesk Ecotect is a separate program and is not integrated into AutoCAD or Revit. It does the calculations using the gbxml analysis data that is exported from the BIM model. So you need to setup your model with rooms if you're using Revit Architecture, and with spaces if you're using Revit MEP.

Below is a white paper on how to prepare your BIM model for the export to the gbxml file.

Revit Interoperability with AutoCAD - By Autodesk

Autodesk® Revit® is a complete architectural design and documentation solution, supporting all phases of design and all architectural drawings and schedules required for a building project. From massing and conceptual studies through the most detailed construction drawings and schedules, Autodesk Revit has tools for delivering productivity, coordination, and quality to the building team.

Autodesk Revit can be used alone or in conjunction with AutoCAD®. This guide will help those who are familiar with AutoCAD to understand how Autodesk Revit works, introducing some of the main features and concepts of Autodesk Revit and comparing them with similar features of AutoCAD.

This guide also demonstrates how you can use Autodesk Revit with AutoCAD to manage a project and its deliverables. You'll learn how to integrate existing AutoCAD projects with Autodesk Revit to produce construction documents. The process relies on the export compatibility of Autodesk Revit and the external referencing capabilities of AutoCAD.

Autodesk Revit provides DWG compatibility using the Autodesk ObjectDBX™ toolkit, and works with AutoCAD to ensure clear communication of design data among project teams.

Integrated Project Delivery

Within the building industry there is a growing interest in integrated project delivery (IPD) and the role building information modeling (BIM) can play in promoting integration among building professionals and improving design outcomes.

Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is a process built on behaviors and contractual relations that enables early collaboration between owners, architects, engineers, construction managers, fabricators, and end operators. The IPD process is greatly enhanced through the technology-based process of building information modeling (BIM).

To learn more about IPD, here are some additional resources. You will be hearing more and more about this technique.

There isn't just growing interest in IPD; it is actually in practice today. In fact, Autodesk has taken the lead by utilizing IPD (tr-party contracts) on 2 projects: an office in San Francisco, and the new Revit HQ in Waltham, MA (designed by KlingStubbins and built by Tocci Building Companies..I couldn't help but plug 'our' project with Autodesk!).

Scott Brisk said:
Yes, there are a number of projects in our area using IPD as well. I think people are going to want to find out more information about it as we start to see more of it.

Create ANY Pipe System in Revit MEP

Martin Schmidt created a video demonstrating how to create ANY pipe system in Revit MEP - that is, you can name a pipe system whatever you want (O2, NO, N, G, Wilma, etc...), and use View FIlters to show/hide as desired.

Great video Martin. Thanks for sharing.
