Revit 64-Bit Benchmark Results by Jason Grant

Jason Grant has a blog of his Benchmark results comparing 32-bit vs. 64-bit Revit software.

"Before the 64-Bit was even released I was just finishing up a benchmark
program that was very difficult and taxing on RAM and processor. We were trying
to figure out what laptop would be best for our Revit users. Since the 64-Bit
has been released I have now run it and was shocked at the improvement. On
another note, I was let down that the SP2 for 2009 was actually slower then the
WU1 but that quickly disappeared when I heard about the 64-Bit version. "

  1. I'm heard there are problems if you have people working in revit 64bit and revit 32bit and going back and forth.

Is this an issue or is it only an issue if both 32 and 64 try accessing the same drawing at the sametime.

  2. I haven't run across this, and I haven't heard of this being an issue with any of my other clients. I'm not saying that it isn't an issue, but I haven't seen it. I have both 32 bit and 64 bit versions loaded on my computer, and run the same projects from both programs, and it seems to work fine. I'm sure Revit worksets would be fine as well, since the 32 bit/64 bit is a change in the program, and not in the content, library or project data. There is no such thing as different bit versions of data, just the program. So I'm sure you will be fine.

  3. It would be nice to see a new set of these benchmarks with Revit MEP 2010 on win7 64bit....with Quadrofx and Firepro GPUs
